I'm so busy that this is becoming the almost weekly update!!

Yesterday, April 7th, I attended a round table discussion about the tax situation in Montana. I learned a LOT, and I'm anxious to share with you what I learned.

What did I learn from Use Your Voice: A Civil Conversation on Tax Policy?

I learned how little I actually knew about Montana Tax Policy, the tax code, and how it works!

Based on that, and what I learned from our bipartisan panel of experts, here is my official campaign platform on taxes in Montana:

Our current tax system is a 1970s model trying to survive in a 2026 world, and it’s leaving Montanans and HD 37 residents holding the bill. Nearly half of our county infrastructure is funded by unreliable federal subsidies and grants that are 'dying of a thousand cuts.' To protect our neighbors from a million-dollar collapse, we must stop acting like tenants of the federal government and start acting like owners of our own economy. I am calling for a Revenue Independence strategy that shifts the burden off local property owners. By modernizing our tax code to capture modest infrastructure fees from out-of-state eCommerce giants and visitors who use our roads, we can create a dedicated revenue stream used exclusively to buy down residential property taxes. My focus isn't on raising taxes for our families; it’s about plugging the leaks, making big tech pay its fair share for the infrastructure it uses, and ensuring that 'Essential Services' are funded by state wealth and visitor dollars—not by pricing seniors out of their family homes.

Moving forward, I will continue to study the tax code, and using "kitchen table economics," I will look for ways to cut costs and increase revenue from sources other than YOUR pocket!
