Hello everyone and welcome! It's been a whirlwind week, but thankfully, I have had a few minutes of downtime here and there.
Here's this weeks list:
ActBlue - I have to admit to all that I have always had an "issue" with donating to politics, and ActBlue is no exception. So, gritting my teeth, I have applied for a fundraising account with them. What I have learned is that even though they do take a small cut, ActBlue is an excellent fundraising site. They basically take care of the legal and reporting end of things, doing the bookkeeping so that the candidate can spend more time campaigning! It is complicated though, and applying for an account isn't easy! We are still in the approval process, but with a letter from the bank this week, we should be able to take ActBlue donations soon!! In the meantime, we'll keep doing it the old fashioned way. You can donate onsite by clicking the Donate button. Only thing is, the state of Montana want's to know not only who you are, but to prevent "BIG MONEY" from sneaking in, they require an employer and occupation. If you're self-employed please add what you do, or if retired, just put that in the comment box, that will suffice. If we have any questions, we will contact you. THANK YOU!
Finance Reports - Our first finance reports are due by the 20th! Oh, the self-examination! Is this right? Is that the right category? Do I have all the right info? Was that in-kind or ??? Well, fortunately, the only donations have been from myself and my team, so the first one is easy-peasy! I sure hope that we have many more donations for the next one! I can't afford all the things by myself!! This week we're ordering handouts, signs, and paying for all sorts of things I never thought of!! Please, if you're all for Common Sense, for a Change! Please Donate today! Even a dollar or two will make a difference!
Position Statements - I feel like I'm at University again!!! I KNEW there was a reason they wanted us to write Position Papers in our writing classes!!! I am getting survey and position requests from all over the place, and you know what? Remember that fish-head general in Star Wars that yelled, "It's a trap!!" Yup, you guessed it. It's a trap. If you don't answer, you're not "compliant" or "on their side." If you do answer by checking a provided box, well, what they're asking isn't what it always seems on the surface. These questions require deep thought, and careful consideration. It's not about "us vs. them," "red vs. blue," "liberal vs. conservative." It's about what's best for our district and for our state! Sometimes the issues are not cut & dried. So, while I will complete the surveys, and sometimes send letters back instead of the survey, please don't base your vote on an organization's survey. If you are unhappy with the answer on a survey, ask your candidate directly. Give them a call, or send an email for clarification! That said, I am learning an ENORMOUS amount by studying the issues raised in all of these surveys! If you have questions about my positions, disagree and want to share why, or agree and just want to talk about it, please CALL ME: 406-366-1240
Rubber Hitting the Road! - Yup, it's time! This week I will be active in the community almost every day! I have meetings on the16th, 17th, and 19th (Yes, the Data Center Meeting). On other days this week, I will be walking downtown, talking primarily to area businesses and community leaders. I will post my whereabouts each day on Facebook, and if you have questions, want to meet me, or just cheer me on, you'll know pretty much where to find me! When I am at home, I will be sitting in on committee meetings in Helena (Virtually of course) and listening carefully so I can learn and better understand the goings on in this great Capitol of ours! If you would like to pencil me in for a chat, I would love that! Oh, and you're watching the gas prices too I'll bet!! In my truck, at 16 MPG, at $3.69/gal it will cost me almost $15 to drive into town and back each day! It would be so helpful if you could make a small donation today, to cover my trips this week. Once I'm elected I'm covered!!
Campaigning is not for the faint of heart, and sometimes it's overwhelming, even for me. So, I have a call to action that won't cost you a dime! Please say a prayer for me as I'm hitting the road. First, for safety, second, for wisdom. Thank you so very much and I will see you all down the road!
